This first project is a manuscript of narrative non-fiction focused on the development of economic theory and practice in the United States and Germany. The manuscript is far from complete, but as it stands is 121 good pages about the history of economic thought told through the lives and times of the economists who founded the New School for Social Research in New York City and its Graduate Faculty.
Note: Please allow the Shiny Application a minute to load up. Once the application is launched, it runs quite quickly.
This Shiny application is aimed at making accessible the insights in the loan data published as a result of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act. The data is aggregated by Financial Institution and County. The idea is that local stakeholders and municipal officials could use real-time information about bank lending activities in their localities.

Fair warning on the HMDA Data Processing - this is not a perfect replication package, so you will need to do some adjustment with your own filepaths if you run the code. Also, these files are large, so a laptop may not have the RAM necessary to run the code to process the data.
